Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's past combines the virtues of family football scholarship and volunteerism in the community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Semon. They raised him on their farm in Eufala. In second football, he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-American teams. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy received the Outland & Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman in the nation. Oklahoma had two National Championships in his three-year tenure as the lineman. Selmon received a third award in 1975. In addition, he was referred to as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon has a bachelor's degree in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout college. After college he settled in Tampa where he played nine years with the Buccaneers was all-pro three times, and began a business career. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why he was named one of the 10 most notable young men across the United States by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1982. As a student, Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighted 256 lbs. He captained his college team in 1975. He was hired by the University of South Florida in 1993 as the associate director of sports. The university named him to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988 the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave its Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
