She is the sister of Alya Tweto. She met her parents when she traveled to Alaska along with her father, a professional hockey player, who wanted for people to be interested in the sport. He dated and fell in love with her mother, and she later joined the aviation business Era Alaska. Ariel was raised with Alya on the Nome Census, the state of Alaska. Ariel attended Emerson College in Nome and then graduated from Chapman University's Communications program in Southern California.
